Pilates Studio FAQs
Got some questions? We’ve got answers! Browse through our FAQs to learn more about our studio practices and offerings.
What is Pilates, and how is it different from other workouts?
Pilates is a unique exercise method that focuses on strengthening your core, improving flexibility, and enhancing overall body awareness. Unlike other workouts that may emphasize high-impact movements, Pilates is gentle yet effective, making it suitable for people of all fitness levels.
Do I need to be flexible to do Pilates?
No, you don’t need to be flexible to do Pilates! Pilates actually helps improve flexibility over time by stretching and lengthening your muscles. We tailor our classes to accommodate individuals of all flexibility levels.
What are the studio's operating hours?
Our studio is open from 6AM to 8PM on varying days. We are closed Wednesdays and Sundays. Check out our timetable for specific class times.
What should I wear to a Pilates class?
Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely and doesn’t restrict your range of motion. Avoid overly baggy or loose clothing that may get in the way during exercises. Most importantly, wear something that makes you feel confident and ready to move! What about socks? If you choose to wear socks, they need to be of the ‘grippy’ variety. We have a small selection at the studio to purchase if you wish to. However, barefoot is also acceptable!
I have a specific injury or health condition. Can I still do Pilates?
Absolutely! Pilates can be modified to accommodate various injuries and health conditions. Our instructors are trained to provide modifications and alternatives to exercises to ensure a safe and effective workout for everyone. However, it’s always a good idea to consult with your healthcare provider before starting any new exercise program.
How often should I do Pilates to see results?
The frequency of your Pilates practice depends on your individual goals and schedule. Some people see results with just one or two sessions per week, while others prefer a more consistent practice. We recommend starting with 1-2 classes per week to experience the benefits of Pilates and gradually increasing from there.
Can men do Pilates, or is it just for women?
Pilates is for everyone! While it’s true that Pilates has historically been popular among women, it was actually devised by a man (Joseph Pilates) for men in the same internment camp as him. Today, many professional athletes, including football players and basketball stars, incorporate Pilates into their training routines to improve strength, agility, and injury prevention.
I'm pregnant. Is it safe for me to do Pilates?
Pilates can be a safe and effective form of exercise during pregnancy, but it’s important to consult with your healthcare provider before starting any new exercise program. Our instructors are trained to provide modifications and adaptations for pregnant clients to ensure a safe and comfortable workout. Pinjarra Pilates will soon be offering classes specifically for pregnant women.
Can I bring my child along?
We love our community of mums and families, but our classes are designed to be child-free. This helps us keep the studio safe, focused and distraction-free, and ensures everyone gets the “me time” they come for. For safety reasons and to respect all clients’ experience, children are not permitted in class.
We’d love for you to take this time just for yourself – it’s amazing what one uninterrupted hour can do for your body and mind.
